CALMNESS AMIDST CRISIS
On the night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, with sentries standing guard at the entrance to the prison........ Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists. Acts 12:6-8
when I read the line in bold, something struck me..... Peter was aware that from this prison he will be proceeding to a trial that may lead to his death, he knew he has fallen into the hands of a strong man. He was handed over to four squads of four soldiers, he was bound with two chains and amidst all these life treating conditions, peter was able to sleep with his two eyes closed.
He was deep in the sleep to the point that he did not even know when the angel of the lord appeared, the light notwithstanding.
In times like this when things seems to be going wrong, when prices of commodity are rising while income has remained virtually constant with the purchasing power falling. What should our attitude be? It is time to take a leaf from Peter's life on how to exercise calmness in the face of crisis. It is time to relax inside God who knows the future of Nigeria and holds tomorrow. Cast your burdens upon him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ever ask or think. God is God and He is what He is.
Have a great week ahead!
God bless you !
